CONFIDENCE Project

A 30-day interactive online course to create breakthroughs in your self-confidence in dancing, both casual and competitive.

with Myles & Tessa starting June 1

Want to feel more CONFIDENT in your dancing?

Do you find yourself thinking...

  • I’m not good enough to dance with certain dancers, so I avoid them
  • I’m unsure or hesitant about trying certain styling, so I hold back
  • I don’t feel I’m ready for certain coaching until I’ve reached a certain level
  • I freeze up in competitions/performances and my skills fall apart

We get you!
You are not alone!

Confidence is like any other skill: it will develop better if you grow it proactively.

But it’s hard to get all this from sporadic workshops that are more focused on movement and patterns.

So we’ve compiled it all into a convenient and thorough package for you, so you can get a major, lasting confidence boost in just 30 days!

The CONFIDENCE Project

A 30-day interactive online course to create breakthroughs in your self-confidence in dancing, both casual and competitive.

with Myles & Tessa starting June 1

Get the Confidence you've been craving

  • How to LOOK and FEEL more confident while dancing so you can be proud of what you see on video
  • How you can “fill your tank” with more confidence in your life so it fuels you both on and off the floor
  • How to know when you are good enough to access certain styling or coaching
  • How you can gain control over your fears, concerns, worries so you can become more resilient in any dance situation
  • How to “perform” under pressure (in casual or competitive dancing) so you don’t freeze up and can enjoy more exciting dances

Imagine, in 30 days:

Being more satisfied and proud of the way you look dancing on video

Partners feeling more relaxed and secure with you, so you can co-create more creative dances

Feeling much more comfortable and confident dancing with higher-skilled partners

Gaining competitive advantage by looking more cool & confident, being able to stay focused despite any nerves

What's involved? What's inside?

What’s a mini-course? It’s not a workshop. It’s not an instructional video. This hybrid learning format is a short, multi-media, interactive, self-guided course you'll be going through with over 100 like-minded dancers, and with extra guidance and support from Myles & Tessa during the month of September!

This whole mini-course is actually a sample of one of the monthly  “themes” from inside of our exclusive Momentum membership for Swing Literacy alumni. Play this 45-second video for a sneak preview!

And you have access to this for a full year!

Plus...

Includes one month access to:

Our exclusive membership for Swing Literacy alumni

So, besides the amazing self-guided course material you can access immediately June 1 and progress through at your own pace, for 30 days in June, you’ll also get access to:

  • 4 Momentum coaching calls (live or recorded) where you can ask questions
  • Prescribed homework assignments with feedback from coaches M&T
  • The Momentum Facebook group - a super-active, supportive and inclusive community to practice your homework with - live!

This was a surprisingly charming theme with doable "get out of your comfort zone" projects.  I feel like I've been freed from my own shackles, with a deeper understanding of nervousness (aka fear!).  Thank you for the tools to address developing a healthier perspective on performing and confidence. Feels good. Embracing "it will never be perfect/finished", I am claiming the win of completing the theme and posting my final project!

End of month reflections

1, I am amazed at how my dancing has changed with just feeling confidence within.

2, I was surprised that I can train myself to be more confident by using all sorts of resources and tactics.

3, I am happy to see my final video with more confidence: standing proud, looking at audience (camera), smiling, owning & selling my movements (bigger and more intentional movements)…

~Leanne Henriksen

Confidence was a theme that really spoke to me: 'if you don't want to, it means you need it'.

It has also helped me outside the dance floor, awesome.

But ultimately, the real proof of my improved confidence is posting my videos to finish the theme, because I kept putting that off because I wasn't happy with the vids.

We did a flashmob tour through the city, this is the one where I started solo while on both sides people were watching from the adjacent terraces. Not only did I easily agree to start this one, I even enjoyed it! Major breakthrough for me.

How worth it is it?

Well, let's compare it to other ways you could be spending your time and dance funds for a month:

Weekly classes:

You might spend $50-$100 per month on weekly classes, but what is the likelihood that the teachers will focus on Confidence skills for the whole month? Or give homework and feedback?

Workshops at events:

IF you can find one that focuses on Confidence: 1 hour, but really just 45min, so it's really just scratching the surface.

Private Lessons:

You might take a private lesson this month, at $100-$200. But usually, private lessons are more focused on your urgent technical needs unless you specifically ask for Confidence help, and even then, it's only 45-60min with no follow up after you've had a chance to practice.

Intensive Workshop:

If you're lucky enough to have access to an intensive, and it happens to be focused on Confidence, awesome! But then afterward, it's hard to retain and maintain that improvement, plus there's no way to ask questions after the intensive weekend is over.

So if you want to get real, lasting improvement, with feedback and guidance from coaches, a long-term comprehensive resource you can study on your own time, and a prescribed practice program targeting improvement in your confidence, this is the best value you can get.

Bonus: Interviews with Confidence experts

On top of all that, we're including 4 expert interviews that were recorded live,

exclusively for Momentum, on the topic of Confidence!

Today I had the pleasure of practicing with Susan for the first time. I have always found her a little intimidating - she is such a beautiful and dedicated dancer, and much more technically skilled than I am. As such I figured this was a good test for the Automating Confidence assignment of reflecting on a recent social dance.

First of all, let me say Susan is very kind and welcoming and immediately put me at ease. Even so, I think my reaction today was much different than it would have been pre-Momentum. I felt much calmer and more confident in my ability to at least provide a solid foundation, even if I couldn't do all the fancy stylings or hit every break. That's a big change for me. As we worked out the kinks in learning to practice together, I wasn't really beating myself up over it, or blaming myself for being a bad dancer, which again is a big deal. I had confidence we would figure it out… and we did!

~Rob French

This is an insanely important module and so highly interesting. I couldn't stop reading through it carefully, listening closely to every video, audio and diligently taking notes. Already, something incredible happened.

A higher level leader suggested I dance in Open Strictly with an Intermediate leader even though I am an absolute beginner in competition. Instead of my usual panic, I rose to the challenge and responded to a leader's post who was searching for a partner... and we danced and had a great time!

Reflection: This module has changed my complete attitude, it has taken away my fear of fear. Now a new adventure begins and I let myself go for it.

I am so overwhelmed how easy it was to finally jump over my shadow that I wanted to share my experience with you.

~Wiltrud Schneider

Reflections: In comparing my before and after videos, I can definitely see differences that convey different levels of confidence. This theme has made me reflect on the effects that negative self-talk has my (and others’) behaviors, and how positive self-talk can have the opposite effects (feeling happier, more confident, less frustrated). To my surprise, the very moves that feel silly, or “too much,” have earned me big compliments from my dance partner!  As I am encouraging myself to be nicer to myself, I am also finding that I’m doing the same with others- family, friends, and colleagues. Thank you, Myles and Tessa, for the work you put into this theme, which has been surprisingly influential on my thoughts and behaviors.

"The themes have been great! Having a clear path to acquire new skills removes a lot of the mental overhead of training and motivates me to practice. Your feedback, to me and others, has also been very helpful."

Sandra Aamodt

"It's hard to know where to start! The themes are fantastic, from the easy ways to identify where to start to the detailed progressions to the clear videos that break down each skill and movement. The website is superbly organized and easy to use. The coaching calls continue to surprise me by clarifying key parts of each theme. I can't say enough positive about Momentum."

"I am a firm believer that you can not learn a dance without a consistent, progressive curriculum, that having classes at random, from different instructors and on different levels is disorienting, like picking crumbs from a table. You guys are brilliant, this is exactly what I needed and was waiting for. And, all your efforts to constantly add-on, adjust, upgrade are so much appreciated! Thank you!"

I have a sense of appreciation & wonder when I see your intentional excellence/sequencing in teaching and coaching! I'm in awe and great appreciation for your systematic approach, attention to details, setting expectations and a system to follow, asking questions.... It's such a great way to get us to focus and build upon what we have only just begun to learn!
