Practice and polish your WCS performance skills by training with a choreographed routine – in a “Routine-tensive” (routine-intensive)!
It’s like a workshop intensive but specifically for choreography for a full (short) song. This is not a formation team, so it can be learned independently with your partner.
Is this for me?
If you are an experienced Westie* looking for a challenge, a thrill, and a fun way to train your dance brain differently, this is for you. *minimum criteria: Skills equivalent to SwingSoul Level 4 or Novice competitor.
How hard will it be?
After decades of creating choreography for competition couples and teams, we know how important it is to make sure the difficulty level of the choreo is in the sweet spot: not so easy that it looks boring to spectators, but also not so challenging that you struggle to do it or remember it. There will be more advanced options provided for those who are ready.
This will be significantly more advanced than the International Rally. Here’s a link to last year’s performance as a reference
Do I have to perform?
Our hope is that most of the dancers who learn it will be ready to perform it at Robson Square Aug 14, but this is not a requirement for participating in the Routinetensive.
How it works:
We’ll teach it in live in-studio coaching sessions spread out through June and July. Then it’s up to you to practice on your own between.
Live coaching sessions:
Saturday June 13 4:30-6 pm (Learn Part 1 & film it)
Sunday June 28 5-6:30pm (Learn Part 2 & film it)
Saturday July 18 4:30-6pm (Review & polish with Myles)
Sunday Aug 9 5-6:30pm (Review & polish with Tessa)
It’s ok if you have to miss a session, as long as you catch up.
Besides access to the 4 sessions, you also get:
- Full video breaking down the moves from the front and back, both with and without music
- a song map outlining the moves with their timing on paper. This will help you practice with your partner on your own time.
How to sign up:
You need to sign up with a partner. Both of you must meet the minimum criteria: Skills equivalent to SwingSoul Level 4 or Novice competitor.
The cost of the whole experience, regardless of how many of the sessions you can attend or if you perform, is $99 CAD per person.
